I'm currently working on my portfolio, which I'll hopefully finish up this coming week. My intention was only to include visual development work, but after coloring a bunch of my character sketches, I'm considering a character design section to show variaty and diversity in my work. Just finished this guy.......his name is Slaboviek!

Boat
Could'nt go a week without posting anything new, so I decided to do some quick photoshop shading on a boat design I'm currently working on. It's kind of a mix between different boat types from different ages. The "ships galley" I posted earlier is actually the interior of the same boat.
P.S. Made a new blog where I'll be posting some of my photos. check it out on www.ranumphoto.blogspot.com, or just press the link under "My Photos", if it has any interest:)

Fishing Wharf
This is my second piece done with Primacolor pencil on vellum. It was drawn on 11 x 17, but should've probably gone bigger, due to the amount of detail. well, you learn something new everytime and I can't wait to get started on the next one. I always enjoy watching other artists work in progress, so I decided to throw in a couple of my own sketches that lead to the final piece. First a couple of quick sketches to get an idea of where I'm going, then a simple perspective drawing to make sure it's solid. A few quick character designs and the last step before transfering to vellum is the detailed under-drawing. I normally make a few copies of the under-drawing to roughly play around with shading, so I have a basic idea of light source when I start shading on vellum.
